Jobs: Graduates

We recruit graduates as researchers and analysts. If you have an excellent Honours degree in Economics, but no work experience, the entry-level job at Genesis is as a researcher. Graduates with a Master’s degree in Economics (including course work with a written component) are recruited as analysts.  If a graduate has one to two years of work experience, they also fall into this category.

Researchers and analysts are the entry-level positions at Genesis.

We recruit for full-time employees in July and August every year at all of the major South African universities. Applications are accepted until 5 August 2016. Check with your university’s career services office or Economics faculty for details of the application period.

How do I apply for employment?

Your application must consist of:

  • A motivational letter
  • A comprehensive CV
  • Certified copies of your academic transcripts for every year of study
  • A certified copy of your South African identity document or passport
  • An assignment from the current year of study

We believe in getting the right fit between the candidate and the firm, so our recruitment process consists of five stages:

  • The application is received and screened against required skills, competencies and experience
  • The candidate is required to complete an online technical case study
  • Face-to-face and online psychometric assessments are conducted
  • An interview is conducted
  • Credential checks
  • If the candidate is successful, an offer of employment is made.

Genesis Analytics is an equal-opportunity employer. Preference is given to candidates from designated groups (i.e. South African Indian, Coloured and African candidates), as defined in the Employment Equity Act (No. 55 of 1998).

Applications can only be made online.

Jobs: Project hires

Genesis has completed more than 900 assignments in over 35 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East. In the Economic Development space, we design, implement and evaluate projects for bilateral and multilateral donor agencies as well as development finance institutions. Through this work, we inform policy decisions at the highest levels of government and impact the livelihoods of the most vulnerable communities. We are therefore driven to unlock maximum value through every intervention.

As we grow our portfolio of projects, we seek equally talented associate consultants to collaborate with on project-specific engagements. We recognise that the success of our long-term project delivery is based on our combined offering Genesis’s institutional specialisations and the field experience of associate consultants. We therefore continuously nurture a community of expert consultants who have a balance of proven technical skills and field-based experience, and who share our passion for developing Africa and its people.

We invite expert consultants with more than seven years of experience in one or more of our technical areas to contact us. Whether you are applying for an existing project position or just expressing interest in future collaboration, we will store your details in our database for easy reference as opportunities arise.
