Good Afternoon Nadira,

Q:

Good day. After looking through your graduate programmes I noticed Sanlam focuses more on Actuarial, CA and Investment. My question is where do I as a Bcom Economics fall in the company and is there room for growth?

Nadira Dhansay
Sanlam5 months ago
A:

Hi Leocardia

I would look at the investments roles, particularly the Investments Academy Trainee Analyst role . I do believe that a degree in economics will be considered there. Growth really depends on the individual and how you handle the opportunities available to you, depending on your performance of course. At Sanlam we encourage employees to manage their own careers. You have the added advantage of internal mobility, to move within clusters (as roles arise). So yes, from personal experience I would say that there is definitely room for

Q:

Hi,

I wanted to ask if you guys have a communications/ Marketing department. If you do please tell us how one could go about applying. I also wanted to know if you hire graduates who do not go through the Graduation programme or it is mandatory to go through the programme to be placed in your organisation? on

Nadira Dhansay
Sanlam5 months ago
A:

Hi Thato

Every cluster within the Sanlam Group has a marketing department. Should they have any vacancies it will all be advertised on our website, www.sanlam.co.za/careers.

The roles advertised on our graduate site are those that we are recruiting for as part of the Sanlam Graduate Programme. We do sometimes recruit for entry-level roles outside of the graduate programme though it depends entirely on the need in the business. These will all be on the website.

Hi

Thank you for the session

1. First i would like to know how is the work culture like at Sanlam?

2. How has the growth from the graduates taken so far been, as in do graduates feel that working for Sanlam is nice as millineals have appeared to be different (not in a bad though) ?

3. What level of education do you prefer for your intake (degree, honours, etc) ?

4. What type of people are you looking for as well ?

Nadira Dhansay
Sanlam5 months ago
A:

Hi Refilwe

1) The work culture generally differs depending on the cluster or business that you are in. Overall though, I think it is one that is inclusive and promotes development

2) This question would best be answered by a millennial though I can confirm that this has been fifth year in a row that we have graduates on board and that we have good levels of retention. Based on that we assume that the culture works for people. Grads get high level of support from direct line and

Q:

Good Day everyone

I am a BA Industrial Psychology and Labour Relations Management graduate. I am currently studying towards a Post graduate diploma in Project Management. I would like to know the criteria you use to take graduates and if a certain level of work experience is of great importance in determining if you will be accepted or not. Thank you.

Nadira Dhansay
Sanlam5 months ago
A:

Hi Lindokuhle

We are looking for people who are under the age of 25 and in the following disciplines - finance, investments, IT, Law, Marketing and actuarial. We are looking for recently graduated/ students who are in their final year undergraduate or honours degrees. Academic results are obviously important though we are also looking for holistic graduates so you will need to sell your personal brand to us.

Rethabile Matela

Q:

Hi Sanlam, I am a Business Science Finance student at UCT. Can you please advise if there are opportunities within the graduate program that directly matches my field of study?

And do you have any advises on the key points I should emphasize in my application for it to stand out, and afterwards how does one position himself for the interview?

Thanks

Nadira Dhansay
Sanlam5 months ago
A:

Hi Rethabile

What sort of roles are you looking for?

In order to gain my attention with an application you need to sell your personal brand. 90% of your application is your academic results. The outstanding 10% is about your achievements, developed skills and abilities etc. Tell us what you do outside of studying, as we are looking for a holistic person. Remember it is you against 50-100 other applicants so you want to stand out .

Q:

Good afternoon team.

I have obtained a bachelor degree at the University of South Africa.

Can Sanlam come to my rescue for an opportunity for a graduate programme? I have just seen there are targeted degrees, but since I received an invite I decided to use the opportunity to ask questions.

I've also seen the university transcripts mentioned for an application, is that a statement of results or the certificate.

If there are other opportunities may I please be updated?

Kinds regards
