Graduate Jobs in Logistics & Supply Chain, South Africa
A career in logistics involves planning, implementing and controlling the efficient and effective flow and storage of goods and services. This can either be done in the backend, i.e. in the head office of a company, or on the ground, for example, driving a truck from point A to point B. A graduate role in logistics & supply chain in South Africa often doesn’t require a higher education qualification, but this very much depends on the line of work you choose. If you are likely to work in a head office and your role includes evaluating the effectiveness of the current supply of products and the logistics of moving that product to the consumer, for example, then a degree qualification is more likely to be relevant.
If you are likely to work on the ground, so for example, you are a truck driver or you accept deliveries when they arrive – then you are less likely to need a degree in order to obtain a job in supply chain & logistics.
As with all graduate jobs, it is always advisable to gain some work experience in the field you are wishing to pursue for your career. This can either come in the form of short-term work placements, or perhaps a longer apprenticeship or internship, which will help you to prove your skills over a longer period of time.
